Maximizing your Swag Bucks Search rewards

After about three months of Swag Bucks we’ve gathered some empirical evidence about what works and what doesn’t.  Here are the things we do to make the most of Swag Bucks.

  • ACCESS: We’ve made Swag Bucks our homepage so we wouldn’t forget to use it. We were keeping the Google search box in our Firefox toolbar if we need more familiar results, but the Google results were practically identical.  We’ve switched to 100% Swag Bucks.com now.  We even Swag search pages we visit often.  We have gotten a few rewards for searching for Facebook for example instead of typing it into our address bar.
  • FREQUENCY: It’s random… You won’t get more Swag Bucks by typing in search after search after search (SwagBucks.com themselves say that this may actually hinder the reward process). We usually get a buck or two in the morning, then probably again mid day, then again before bed. Some friends have said they seem to get a reward every 4-6 hours on average (this does not mean you have to search for 4 to 6 hours…. see REPEATABILITY below).  If you’re getting 3 or 4 Swag Bucks a day through searching you’re doing good.  For other ways to get Swag Bucks see the Other ways to get Swag Bucks section of this page.
  • INTELLIGENCE: It *seems* to work best with real searches (or real *looking* searches like ‘How many monkeys wear pants nowadays’ or ‘The macaroni top hat worn by Karl Marx’)… It *seems* to work even better if you click on one or two of the results of your searches. This could be my imagination.
  • REPEATABILITY: If you put in 10-20 searches and don’t get any Swag Bucks, you probably won’t get any right now… best to try again in an hour or two.  If you’ve just won some Swag Bucks then you almost definitely will not get more for a few hours…
  • BONUSES: Another great way to add to your Swag Bucks total is through Swag Codes.  These little codes can pop up in many of the Swag Bucks official sites.  We’ve constantly got our eyes peeled for new codes and whenever one shows up we’ll share some big hints on the WeLoveSwagBucks home page.  There seems to be a code about once a day on average but some arrive in the wee hours of the night.  Our apologies, but we might not get those to you before they expire  :) .  The WeLoveSwagBot is now on duty.  Follow his Twitter feed to get tweets whenever his “code detection algorithm finds positive criteria-matching data”.  We think he means “when he finds a code”.

Other ways to get Swag Bucks

  • Search for Swag Codes:  We assume that is one of the reasons you’re here ;) .  A Swag Code is a promotional code that will give you a Swag Buck or two when you enter it here.  New Swag Codes pop up all the time, usually about once per day. They are available for either a limited time or for a limited number of users, so you need to keep your eyes peeled and act fast!
  • Invite Friends to join Swag Bucks: By far the best way to earn Swag Bucks fast!  Know a few people who would love Swag Bucks as much as we do?  Invite them to join using your referral link (after you join Swag Bucks you can find your link here) and the first 100 Swag Bucks they win will be awarded to you in kind!
  • Trade in Cell Phones and Video Games: Got an old phone you don’t use anymore?  How about those old video game discs and cartridges cluttering up your closet.  Be green and get some prizes in the process by trading them in for some Swag Bucks.
  • Shop and Earn: If you’re like us, a lot of your shopping takes place online.  Swag Bucks has partnered with hundreds of online retailers to award you 1 Swag Buck for every $5 you spend.  To see a list of participating stores click here.
  • Submit a Poll idea:  Have fun with the weekly Swag Bucks polls?  Have the best poll idea ever?  Submit your idea to Swag Bucks (send an email to pollideas@swagbucks.com.) and if it is used you’ll have gotten yourself 10 Swag Bucks.  We had our poll idea used the first time we submitted!
  • Use #Swagbucks and the Tuesday Phrase That Pays on Twitter: If you use Twitter, add #Swagbucks to your tweets for a daily chance to win 20 Swag Bucks.  Then, each Tuesday, use the Tuesday Phrase That Pays for a chance to win 50 Swag Bucks!  Be sure to follow WLSB and the WLSBot on Twitter too.
  • Document your Swaghappiness with a photo and an unboxing video: Once you’ve settled down from the excitement of receiving your Swag Bucks prize in the mail, set up a camera (photo and/or video) and document your unboxing.  Send Swag Bucks your photo and you’ll receive 1 Swag Buck.  Upload your video to youtube and let Swag Bucks know and you’ll receive 3 Swag Bucks.

Have fun!

This was helpful; however, I was wondering if there were any suggestions for what sorts of words to search. I realize it is all chance and the information that you have. I figure it can’t hurt to ask.

There are no specific terms or phrases that will guarantee you a Swag Buck. Each search you perform is like a pull on a slot machine. You may or may not get a Swag Buck reward. That said, there are right ways and wrong ways to search. Repeated searching will not help you. It may harm your chances of getting Swag Bucks. Natural searches work best. Nonsense searches can actually get you deactivated. Just use Swagbucks.com as you normally would use any other search engine.
      Good luck!

Thanks for the tip, but the Swidget does NOT always show if there is a Swag Code currently available. Swaggernauts have to do some looking around and keep their eyes peeled.

I couldn’t ask this anywhere else, so I just chose here.

Isn’t posting telling people where swagcodes are breaking the terms of Swagbucks?

“Swagbucks: Give hints that help other Swaggernauts “figure out” the code”

P.S. You can e-mail me the answer if you like.

Posting active Swag Codes is absolutely against the rules. Helping people understand Swag Codes and giving hints about where to find them is encouraged. A lot of people wag their fingers at WLSB thinking we break the rules, but Swag Bucks themselves have suggested us to new users.
Remember, sharing is good, but cheating is bad. :)

We Love Swag Bucks is directly affiliated or IS SwagBucks themselves.

This is a scheme to advertise swagbucks.

” Helping people understand Swag Codes and giving hints about where to find them is encouraged. ”

We don’t find that in the SwagBucks website telling us to give out hints now, do we? Oh wait, that’s right.. You are SwagBucks! And this is an indirect way of saying that =)

Goodjob anyways, thank you for the Search and Win scheme, it rocks!

Wow… If you take a close look at our name you will see that it’s

          we LOVE swag bucks… not
          we ARE swag bucks… ;)

Well we take it as a compliment that you so adamantly assume that our little site has to be affiliated with Swag Bucks. We’re proud of it. We’re proud of the recognition that we’ve gotten from Swaggernauts and Swag Bucks themselves. But I have to reiterate… we are NOT swag bucks. Just take a look at our widget. That’s my own name on there, if you do a whois on the we-love-swag-bucks.com domain name you’ll see that it matches. I’m just a guy who loves Swag Bucks.

As for your statement that we “don’t find that in the SwagBucks website telling us to give out hints” I can only say that you didn’t look very hard at the SwagBucks website… now, did you?

Check out the official Swag Bucks FAQ you’ll see under the Swag Codes tab:

What kind of hints can I give when helping people find Swag Codes?

Swagbucks.com encourages users to help each other find Swag Codes through giving hints. However, there are some types of hints which are considered inappropriate and which may result in disciplinary action against the offending user(s).

The general rule of thumb is that a hint may help others find the Code, but must NOT help the user “figure out” the Code without actually finding it.

For example, if there was a Swag Code hidden in a blog post, it would be permissible to say ‘read the last blog post and pay attention to all the bolded text’. Conversely, it would be inappropriate to write ‘the Code rhymes with “X” but starts with the letter “Y” instead of “Z”.

There you go… straight from the horse’s mouth. We take the Swag Bucks rules seriously too… that’s why you’ll never see a Swag Code posted here. And we know we’re doing a decent job, because Swag Bucks themselves has recommended us to users.

Now… we hope that settles it.

          Good luck!

    Thanks for all the tips!

But I have a question: I have a twitter account but its with a different email address than my email address on Swagbucks, so if I am awarded SBs for my swagbucks tweets, how will they add these SBs to my account?

    Thanks for all the help!

Don’t worry, Swag Bucks will contact the email address of your twitter account to confirm your Swag Bucks account.
      Good luck!
